USGBC is seeking an event marketing manager who will manage USGBC’s event marketing campaigns, which includes USGBC’s regional and national events under the USGBC Live event platform, as well as participation in trade shows and other industry events. This role will work closely with marketing leadership, business development and the conference & events team to determine key events, strategies, tactics, and deliverables that will support the success of the events as well as help prove return on investment (ROI).


  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (MTD, C&E, etc.) to develop year-round marketing and communications plans for USGBC events.
  • Maintain the event marketing calendar and lead content campaigns, including drafting messaging, email content and articles
  • Work with the C&E, marketing and communications, and local community teams to ensure that the marketing planning and strategy is in sync and executed.
  • Draft marketing related content to be used in marketing collateral, digital marketing, social media and the event websites.
  • Oversee all USGBC event websites in terms of content, user experience and design, liaising with technology, marketing and C&E.
  • Facilitate the USGBC event social media channels.
  • Work in tandem with members of the various USGBC communities and international GBCs to ensure that the local element is well represented and incorporated into the events.
  • Oversee the timeline for all marketing deliverables related to events.
  • Spearhead USGBC’s event and tradeshow strategy including but not limited to: identifying key events, internal team training for attendees, maintain pre- and post-show communication, and event attendance.
  • Identify and engage in media and marketing partners to help cross promote each event.
  • Submit calendar listings to local and trade publications promoting the event to general audiences.
  • Work with the media team to create media lists of relevant media, and identify newsworthy stories and draft story pitches to attract local and trade media.
  • Draft and distribute press releases for major event announcements, such as keynote speakers.
  • Create partnership outreach toolkit for community teams to share with their key members and outreach partners promoting the event through their own communication channels.
  • Maintain the ad schedule and ads for each event, which includes overseeing placement, budget and timeline.
  • Draft speeches, talking points and presentations for executives and others who are representing USGBC at USGBC events.
  • Act as primary marketing POC for each event, to include attending all reoccurring C&E event planning meetings
  • Coordinate with marketing team members to ensure support and completion of marketing promotion and collateral.
  • Create post-event activity and performance reports
  • Travel to and provide onsite marketing and support at the events (as needed, when safe).
  • Manage and delegate external speaker requests, and determine if a USGBC representative may be appropriate to speak at external USGBC events.
  • Manage external partnerships around events, negotiating partnership agreements and managing deliverables.

  • Bachelor’s in marketing or related discipline
  • 5+ years of related marketing experience, ideally in event marketing, demand generation, or sales enablement
  • Proven experience carrying out event marketing efforts, including trade show planning, attendance, and reporting
  • Experience partnering with an enterprise sales team
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage resources, budgets, and onsite personnel
  • Strong communication skills – written and oral
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • You are creative, innovative, and always think outside the box
  • Highly organized and proficient at managing multiple projects at a time
  • You are metric driven and have the ability to draw insight from complex marketing data
  • Confident with a dynamic personality


This position does not have employees reporting in. 


This position may require 10-15% travel.


  • Effectively communicate USGBC’s messages to all audiences
  • Promote USGBC programs and products to support fiscal growth for USGBC through various forms of marketing/communications and event.
